INTRODUCTION TO IDMS

Audience:
This course is intended for all Application Development staff responsible for using development tools in the IDMS development environment.

Course Objective:
The course is designed to give an intensive five-day introduction to the IDMS environment.  The student will learn the various components of IDMS, the concepts of developing in the database environment, a developer's view of the Integrated Data Dictionary and how to navigate an IDMS database.

• Overview of IDMS and Basic Database Concepts

• IDD Concepts, Integration, Entities

• Security

• Data Relationships, Data Storage, Set Structures

• Data Structure Diagram, Currency, Database Access

• Retrieving Data, Modifying Data, Protecting Data Integrity

• LAB EXERCISES

Prerequisite:  COBOL Programming Language and Job Control Language.
